One of the worst parts about owning a home is people finding your address and sending you useless junk mail.
I don’t know how these people find my buying patterns and then acquire my home address, but it’s very creepy.
Not only is it creepy, but it’s not economically sustainable! Three fourths of the mail in my mailbox is pure junk. It gets one glance before it’s tossed right back into the trash. Thankfully, I recycle the paper, but not everybody does. About once a month, I’ll receive an advertisement that’s actually informative and useful to me. For example, last week, I received a flyer for the local HVAC company. I’ve been doing business with them for several years, so I always welcome their updates and coupons in my mailbox. The flyer was all about 5 reasons homeowners should have their HVAC systems serviced. The first reason was because it would help the system last longer. The second reason stated that annual maintenance could prevent larger issues from popping up. The third reason was because the HVAC system would run more efficiently. The fourth reason was about an improvement in air quality. Last but not least, the fifth reason stated that HVAC maintenance would assist the warranty. I agreed with all of these HVAC servicing benefits, and I was thankful they sent it. The flyer acted as a reminder that it was time to have my HVAC system serviced. This HVAC company can continue to send me more advertisements in the mail!
