Moving process is unpleasant with no heat

I was the unlucky a single who got stuck driving the moving van over icy roads with limited visibility

In the last multiple years, our child has switched apartments multiple times, then my hubby and I constantly end up helping him with the whole moving process. Unluckyly, our son’s lease runs out at the same time each year; In the northeastern part of the country, moving in early January is a absolutely bad idea, but the outside temperature is constantly well below zero with snow on the ground, snow falling from the sky and a bitter windchill; Last year was especially bad because of a Winter time blizzard; Every one of us arrived at our son’s home to begin the process, and found that he’d failed to pack up all of her possessions in preparation. It took multiple hours to box up all of her clothing, kitchen items and assorted stuff and haul her furniture to the moving van and our hubby’s truck… Because the heat was turned off in the apartment, we could see our breath. I was the unlucky a single who got stuck driving the moving van over icy roads with limited visibility. It didn’t take long to figure out that the oil furnace in the motorcar wasn’t working. My hubby, our child and I then devoted multiple hours to carrying her belongings up the stairs and into her new apartment, however since we were opening and closing the door repeatedly, our child was unwilling to turn up the thermostat. Even wearing a wool coat and exerting myself, I nearly froze to death and would have given most anything for access to heat, but after the last box was finally deposited inside, our child turned up the thermostat and nothing happened; She then found out from the building manager that the gas furnace was not stressed to come on until the following morning.
