I’ve been forced to deal with some drastic allergies since childhood… I’m allergic to dairy products, nuts, dander, debris, pollen and just about anything that crawls, flies or floats in the air, but because of this, keeping a clean residing environment is seriously important to me.
I don’t want to deal with the headaches, coughing, sneezing, congestion, sore throat and sinus pressure that are all part of my allergy concerns. I’ve found that I need to be proactive in order to feel much more healthy. I make sure to replace the air filters in the gas furnace and a/c every month. It doesn’t matter if the component is working its hardest or kneeling idle, then either way, contaminants steadily become trapped and gradually clog the filter, and the purpose of the filter is to protect the heating and cooling system from the addition of debris, however once the filter is clogged, particles and pathogens somehow are able to get inside the inner workings. When the gas furnace or a/c starts up, it then spreads these pollutants throughout the home and compromises my level of health. I’ve enrolled in a repair contract with a local HVAC company that includes a repair call in the fall and the Springtime. The specialist takes apart, cleans and music all the different components of the gas furnace and a/c, however he also sets the performance of the duct system. He checks for any accumulation of debris and dirt or leaks at the seams. Because of these efforts, I can be sure that the heating and cooling system is contributing to rather than detracting from the integrity of air quality, and going an extra step, I’ve also invested in a whole-home air cleaner.
