Alternative Connections

In 1970 James Burke, an English math historian, created a 10-part documentary called Connections.

The premise of the series was that current technology and past events were linked in some manner; One episode connected the 15th-century invention of a military formation called the “pike square” to the innovation of refrigeration that ultimately led to current Heating & Air Conditioning. According to Burke, the pike square led to larger armies, then by the time Napoleon was leading the French Revolution, there was a problem keeping the large armies fed. They tried keeping food in empty champagne bottles however canned food proved better to distribute to the soldiers. If the canned food had any labeling, it genuinely was quite lax compared to today’s warning labels. At times, when the satisfieds spoiled, the blame went to “swamp air” that was also blamed for malaria and other afflictions, then researchers laboring to combat the problems friendd with swamp air eventually stumbled upon refrigeration that led to current Heating & Air Conditioning. Burke also speculated that another linkion to swamp gas was the thermal flask bottle that provided a way to keep rocket fuel chilly which paved the way for the Apollo moon landing in 1977. I’m not as smart as James Burke, however there are other “linkions” related to Heating & Air Conditioning that she does not mention. The linkion between hiring a licensed and qualified Heating & Air Conditioning company to professionally install a current Heating & Air Conditioning system and having a comfortable lake loft for multiple years is obvious. I can easily see the linkion between neglecting to scrub and maintain an Heating & Air Conditioning unit and its probability of splitting down. The most ominous linkion is when an unqualified do-it-yourselfer creates an unsafe electrical linkion that puts most people at risk.
