The cool part about being an HVAC technician is that I can literally move anywhere and find a job as an HVAC technician.
While I owned my own HVAC company in the United States, I had been saving all of my money so that I could open an HVAC company in Asia. I figured that they probably didn’t have a lot of HVAC companies in Asia, and I figured that it would be a great place to open an HVAC company. Now that I have been living in Asia for a long time, I have learned that being an HVAC technician in a foreign country is completely different than being an HVAC technician in my own country. First of all, I spend a lot less time working on HVAC units during the summer. In the country where I currently live, there is a huge taboo about air conditioners. A lot of people refuse to use air conditioners, and those that do use air conditioners won’t turn them on often. Sure, I can stay busy enough to keep my doors open, but it isn’t like America. However, during the winter, I make a lot of money by fixing furnaces and other heating systems. I found out that there are a lot of people that can fix an HVAC unit, but there are not a lot of HVAC technicians. Sure, you can find cheap labor, but my HVAC company is one of the few that will pay for any damages that we cause.
