After nearly four years of being together, my wife and I decided to call it quits for good.
We had been together for so long that not only was it so hard to say goodbye, but to also figure out who deserved to keep what from our house.
I was moving out to an apartment of my own in town, and the first thing that I made clear I wanted to take with me was the air conditioning unit. I had purchased this unit for my wife as a valentines day surprise a few years ago and it was a beauty. It was one of the most state of the art systems on the HVAC market at the time, and it was extremely powerful as well as energy efficient. Even though I had been the one to purchase the unit in the first place, my wife was not willing to give it up. After some very heated discussions, I decided to just let her keep the unit and I would find another one of that quality at the local HVAC heating and cooling company soon enough. I really did love that unit, but it wasn’t worth going through any more arguing than we already had. I also have a close buddy of mine who works part time as a certified HVAC repair tech, and I think that I just might be able to convince him to hook me up with a discount for my new place. It might come off as a little harsh and shallow that I am just as upset with losing my air conditioning unit as I am with splitting up, but that’s just how it is.
