Burnt hair in my ductwork

I hired an HVAC specialist to come clean the ductwork.

I never realized how much hair can collect in the ductwork in your home. A few winters ago, I noticed the smell of burning hair and felt like I was losing it trying to figure out where it was coming from. I was determined to get rid of that awful smell. I mean, I couldn’t even have friends over because the smell of burning hair was so prominent. Initially, I tried to replace all the filters in my heating equipment. That did absolutely nothing! After that, I hired someone to service the furnace. An HVAC technician came and did great work. He cleaned everything, oiled parts, and replaced a belt. While this was necessary servicing, it again did nothing for the burning hair smell. I was at my wits end and called the heating and cooling company in distress. The woman who answered the phones asked when I had last cleaned my ductwork. Truthfully, the answer was never. I guess that there is a large build up of dust and hair in ductwork over time. I hired an HVAC specialist to come clean the ductwork. They sent someone over that very same day. A few hours later, my home was free of that horrible smell. I was so relieved. Now I know to stay on top of ductwork cleaning.
