Clean air ducts are a dream

I just didn’t understand what ductwork cleaning was. To me, it didn’t make any sense really. The HVAC equipment pushed air through the air ducts and then we enjoyed the heating and cooling comfort. There was an air filter for the HVAC equipment so how dirty could the air be? And if it’s just air, how could the ductwork even need ductwork cleaning and ductwork resealing. Well, it turns out that the ductwork resealing is why we need the ductwork cleaning. Gravity has a way of working on all of us. The ductwork isn’t immune to the effects of gravity either. Most of it is hanging so gravity is pulling at it constantly. This results in small cracks or gaps being made at the joints of the ductwork. And that’s when you get a whole lot more than just air inside the ductwork. When I learned this, that’s when I called the HVAC company to have them come out and do their thing. However, I was not at all prepared for the amount of debris that came out of the ductwork. This simply had to be the first time those air ducts ever saw an HVAC ductwork cleaning crew. There were bags of dust and debris being sucked out of the air ducts. I was almost embarrassed and said so to one of the HVAC professionals. But he just smiled and assured me that this was nothing compared to some of the air ducts he’d worked on. Once the ductwork cleaning was complete, the did the ductwork resealing. That not only will stop the dust and gunk from getting back inside the ductwork but it’s going to improve the efficiency of the HVAC equipment as well.
