Don’t Forget the Other Half of HVAC System During Winter

Winter jumps on me faster each year.

Thank goodness I don’t have to remember to have the HVAC serviced in the fall anymore.

Used to be, I would call the HVAC company as soon as that first cold breeze showed up mid autumn. Now, I am part of a semi annual HVAC maintenance program so I don’t have to remember to call. They just schedule the appointment and I confirm it on the computer. Super easy for me and my furnace gets the necessary service without me having to call. Our winters are pretty tough around here. You certainly don’t want to make the mistake of not having reliable heating. A furnace breakdown up here can be really tough. Sometimes there is so much snow, the HVAC guy might not be able to get to you right away. This is why it’s so important to trust vital HVAC maintenance to a trusted heating and cooling company. However, it’s also important to not forget about the cooling side of the HVAC equation. During the winter, there sits outside your house a very important part of the cooling system. It’s that cabinet housing the condenser and the compressor for the air conditioning. That thing has to sit outside all winter long. It’s important for us to do our best to take care of this part of the HVAC system in the winter too. In fact, there are plastic covers which easily fit over the HVAC cabinet outside. This keeps the weight of the snow and ice off vital moving parts. Not to mention the fact that it will protect from falling ice projectiles! Some of those things are heavy enough to do damage. I know the focus of the winter is the furnace. Just don’t forget the other half.
