Furnace stopped working, locked in room with heater

Do you remember the motion picture The Room with Jodie Foster? She’s trapped in a panic room with her daughter, locked in to protect themselves against intruders.

Well, dramatic or not, I felt like I was in the same situation recently, a few weeks ago I was at home, working alone as usual, when I heard a sizable crash from the basement.

I was immediately alert, throwing my keyboard down & running to the scene of the crime. I observed that it sounded quieter than usual, I couldn’t hear the furnace running any more, although I didn’t hear any loud sounds coming from the basement as I stood at the top of the stairs. Nervous, I ran over & checked the temperature control, only to find that the temperature was appropriately set however the furnace was not connecting to the control unit. I tried to adjust the temperature, however nothing corrected the furnace issue. That’s when I realized that the furnace wasn’t going to common itself, & I had a long afternoon ahead of me. It was only 10 degrees outside & the indoor air was quickly cooling; I could hear the wind blowing in through cracks in the windows & doors, bringing lower hot & cold temperatures with every gust. I called the Heating & Air Conditioning business however had no fortune getting through, leaving me with no hope for resolution. With no other option, I collected up multiple space furnaces & locked myself in the spare room, creating a hot safe room. I waited there until help arrived; my guy came over & restarted my faulty furnace.
