In my home currently I have for the first time ever in my life, a gas fireplace. It is great, because you flip a switch and it goes on. There is some fake wood and kindling and such around it of course. I guess you could say it looks romantic. I would agree. Some folk even get fireplace apps for their TVs so they can have the look of a fireplace. But that doesn’t heat a house! Since I have been here I have needed no maintenance on my fireplace either. In the same timeframe I have had to have an HVAC technician come out once. Then they turned up again a week later to replace the whole HVAC system. Needless to say my fireplace has been a bit less high maintenance. I use it alot in the winter. Sometimes I wonder if it is affecting my air quality at all, but I have looked into it, and it seems like the fire burns off any and all chemicals that might affect me badly. That is not to say that I have not looked into air-purification systems though. I mean, with the amount that I use my gas fireplace, to me it seems natural that I am thinking about this. I am on the fence, but I read about it all, that is for sure. Obviously, my indoor air quality is important for my health. I have read about how bad air quality in cities and such directly affects our lifespans. So you can bet this is something I take seriously. At the moment, I am going to keep using my gas fireplace, while at the same time, I am going to stay aware of the latest in whole home air purification.
