Getting help from personal trainer following injury

A little over two years ago, I was the victim of a drunk driving accident.

  • The other driver failed to stop at a red light.

He ran straight through it and struck the driver’s side of my car. The damage to my vehicle was so excessive that the jaws of life were required to cut me out of the wreckage. I then spent over two weeks in the hospital and went through three separate surgeries. I was put on pain medication and required a great deal of physical rehabilitation. Although I took advantage of every service my insurance company would cover, I was still left with significant pain. Just walking around throughout the day was difficult. I found it impossible to sleep more than two hours at a time before the stiffness became unbearable. I was unable to return to my job, and my whole life was put on hold. Unwilling to continue suffering, I spent hours researching possible treatments for improvement. I read several blogs written by people who’d had success working with a personal trainer. I was excited about the idea of trying something natural, with long-term benefits. I immediately contacted a personal trainer in my local area and we discussed my many aches, pains and problems. He worked with me to set up a reasonable schedule for achieving my goals. At the start, the training sessions were difficult, strenuous and nearly defeated me. I simply had no strength, stamina or balance. Everything hurt, and I was tempted to give up. The personal trainer was very understanding and yet motivational. It didn’t take long for me to start feeling better. As I increased core strength and gained range of motion, the pain steadily decreased. I’ve stopped taking the prescription medication. I’ve returned to work and can finally sleep through the night.
