Halloween is for trick or treating and not just for tricks

Where we live, you never know what kind of weather we will have for Halloween.

We have gone trick or treating wearing heavy winter coats over our costumes.

We have also gone trick or treating in our costumes and still felt like we were overly warm. This year, we were hoping we have another treat year for Halloween and that it would be warmer and not colder. My daughter wanted a witches costume and it was not really heavy. She told me she wouldn’t wear a coat because then everyone would know who she was. I told her she could put some heavy clothing beneath the witch dress and she told me she would look fat. I began to wonder if maybe it wouldn’t be best if we would just have a blizzard on Halloween and then we would not need to go Halloweening at all. The day before Halloween, the temperature was in the sixties and everything looked good for the next night. Halloween morning dawned cool, but it was nice. During the day, the weather deteriorated and I knew we needed heavy coats. Unfortunately, we also needed heavy coats in the house, too. The furnace broke just as we were heading out the door. Without a furnace, the temperature in the house had fallen to forty by the time we got home. I had to call the HVAC company to fix the furnace. My daughter wore her costume and her coat until the HVAC company arrived and fixed the furnace. The HVAC technician gave her some candy when he left the house.
