My mom and dad were in their eighties and I was noticing how difficult it was getting for them to take care of their home.
Mom had been telling me that dad could no longer cut wood. I didn’t expect to see him barely able to walk, when I went to visit. I told them that it was time for them to give up the house and move in with us. My dad was adamant about never moving in with one of his kids. He said he would rather die alone before he would do that. When I got home, I was talking to my wife. I told her what was going on and she told me the house next door was for sale. It was a small two bedroom bungalow, that was all on one floor. There were two bathrooms and a new HVAC system. The entire inside of the house had recently been updated. We went to the house and did some investigating. It was perfect for mom and dad. The HVAC system was new and they had installed an air purification system along with a dehumidifier. There was even a new walk-in tub that mom had been telling me about. My wife and I put a bid in on the house. When we were told we had the house, I called my dad. I told him about the house and asked if he was interested. He asked about the HVAC system and the bathroom. I knew he was interested when I told him about the air purifier and walk-in tub. Two weeks later we put their house up for sale.
