I had a plan in place

People are certainly spoiled these years.  Most anything you want can be found locally, ordered online, or expertly manufactured.  Every one of us also have the ability to flip a switch or push a single button to have things just happen when it comes to our appliances.  Can you even imagine if every one of us no longer had electricity. Our modern lights, appliances, and laptops would no longer work. You couldn’t ever go to the local grocery store because the registers wouldn’t work.  You couldn’t possibly pump gas in your car as the pumps run on electric. The modern world would come to a stop rather hastily. Now try to even imagine that it is the middle of Winter season and your power is out one day.  How may this affect your morning? Your house, if heated with an electric oil furnace or old fashioned boiler, would cool off hastily. Your freezer, over time, would defrost, and your kitchen stove won’t work either. How would you get by?   Now, consider that you have some sort of solar panels installed on your roof. This alternative source of power will easily allow all of those things to still operate even while in a power outage. Thankfully, I’ll say that in most cases, the power does not stay off long term but if it did you somehow should have a plan in place to ensure your safety.  If you are not in a great position to use solar energy you should at least have a wood stove or little fireplace for warmth. These can both be used for cooking if it came down to it as well just as they were back in years past before all the people had electricity. As for the freezer, if the temperatures in question are that frigid outside you can easily put the food outside in boxes and it also will keep it safe too.
