I have been in company since 2011.
- During that 10 years in business, I have never hired a female employee, but i’m not sexist and I would have hired someone, even though I haven’t come across a female that wanted to work in the Heating, Ventilation & A/C industry and was qualified.
I interviewed a couple of women in the past, however a single of them wasn’t qualified for the job and the other person didn’t show up to the minute interview, however when I had to hire a couple of additional employees a few weeks ago, I interviewed a spectacular candidate with amazing Heating, Ventilation & A/C upgrade and repair experience, however the person worked for an Heating, Ventilation & A/C contracting supplier for five years. That candidate happened to be a woman. I cannot say that I’m not gleeful to finally have a diversified employee list, however the boys are easily unhappy with our selection. One of the boys wanted me to hire his buddy, however the guy didn’t have enough experience with heating repairs to qualify for the job. I believe that guy is the reason why everyone is up in arms, but my staff has always known that the most pressing quality that a candidate can possess is an impressive resume. I do not suppose why they are surprised that I scooped up the first person with experience that showed interest in joining our firm. I suppose that the attitude in the shop better change or I will be looking to fill a couple of additional Heating, Ventilation & A/C repair person positions. I do not want to get rid of our staff, even though I will make swings if I do not get cooperation.
