I hate relying on other people, because more often than not, they always disappoint.
I’m someone who would rather do something myself, because then I have control over the situation. I can get something done on my terms on my time. There’s nothing worse than waiting for someone else to do something you could’ve just done yourself. Well, my brother got me a yearly service package with the local HVAC company for Christmas this past year. Although it was a thoughtful gift, it really irritates me. I’m constantly telling my brother how I can service my HVAC equipment on my own. In the 7 years I’ve been living in this house, I’ve never had any issues with my HVAC system. I’ve taken the time to learn about the HVAC equipment and how to properly maintain it. I replace the air filters, clean the condenser units, and I even built a small box to go around my outside unit to protect it from the sun and other weather temperaments. I couldn’t let my brother’s gift go to waste, so I scheduled my first appointment. The man on the phone told me he’s come service my HVAC system at 1pm. 2pm rolled around and there was nobody at my door. I called the HVAC company to complain and ask where this HVAC technician was. The receptionist said that the technician was running behind, and would be there as quickly as he could. I waited another 2 hours for him to show up! This is why I’d rather just do things myself. It would’ve taken me 30 minutes top to service my HVAC equipment myself, but instead I wasted a whole afternoon waiting for someone else to show up.
