When our air conditioner quit working, I distraught about what the two of us were going to do to keep cool.
It was Summer & even though the two of us lived in the northeast, summers could still be brutal. I didn’t care about it when the rapidly changing temperatures got up into the upper eighties. I didn’t care about the humidity either, so when the air conditioner went out, I knew I had to find an alternative cooling plan for our home. I called our sister & I asked him if she would go to city with me to help me find a portable air conditioner component for our house. When the two of us got to the home center, she took me to the window air conditioner units instead of to the portable air conditioners. She told me that the window air conditioners were more efficient to run & that they were much cheaper to use than was a portable air conditioner. I couldn’t guess that since the portable AC was so much smaller than the window AC component that it could be more efficient. I knew that it would be cooler in the house, although I thought it would be more luxurious to run. I was surprised when she showed me the stats on the window AC unit. According to everything I read, the window AC component she was trying to talk me into buying, would be almost half as much to run as the smaller portable AC unit. It was cheaper to run & it a single component would be able to cool off more than 2 rooms. It was a no brainer to buy the window air conditioner unit.
