So for sure, things haven’t exactly gone to plan.
But when has any plan gone exactly as it was supposed to, right? Still, we did okay and we met our aim by moving out of the city.
This move had been something we’d been working and planning on for a very long time. Really, since we started a family, our aim has to get out of the city to some fresh air. Air conditioning is nice but getting real, country fresh air was something I really wanted my kids to grow up with. My wife is from the city so she grew up in apartments with heating and cooling that was sort of spotty. I grew up in a very rural place with a wood stove for heating in the winter and zero air conditioning. We really wanted to provide a middle ground for our kids. So when we located a smaller town just 90 minutes from the city, we started looking. It took us years to find the property that we now live in. Plus, all of that came with a great deal of renovations. The first of which was for the upstairs where the kids’ rooms were. Our house is sort of an old farmhouse of sorts. There was rudimentary heating and cooling equipment downstairs but nothing upstairs. While we could hold off on the downstairs heating and cooling, we had to do something immediate about the upstairs. The local HVAC company came through for us with a ductless multi split system. Basically, that’s 3 ductless heat pumps for the upstairs. I have to say that the kids were the most comfortable than they ever were in the city.
