Learning new technology

I am not the brightest dude when it comes to technology.

In school, I always struggled when we were asked to use new apps or computer programs. As I get older, I still struggle with using technology at work. When smartphones gained popularity, I took my time upgrading from my flip phone. My older phone was just easier for me to use and I dreaded learning all the new technology of a smartphone. It seems like there is simply something in my brain that has a problem with tech gadgets, and I’m not sure why that is. Recently, I did find a piece of technology that I actually really benefit from. When I upgraded my heating and cooling units, I also got a brand new smart thermostat. Up until this point, I only ever used the digital readout type of thermostat before, which to me was a marvel of technology all its own. I remember as a child having the thermostat that was a plastic level on the side that you manually adjusted. This smart thermostat is next level, though, and makes the digital readout seem pretty primitive in comparison. This thermostat not only sets the indoor temps, it also takes constant studyings of the air quality! Not only that, but it learns as it goes, so if I leave the condo for a few minutes, the thermostat will automatically adjust itself so it doesn’t run the whole time. It monitors its own batteries and air filters, and gives me a text message when anything needs to be upgraded. It also runs self diagnostics, so it can alert me when I need to schedule an Heating, Ventilation plus A/C maintenance appointment; Before too long, this thermostat will understand my heating and cooling needs so well I will never have to adjust it again!
