My brother changed his mind when he was in the middle of his college career.
He used to think that he wanted to be a teacher, but when he was 2 years into his training, he completely changed his mind. He decided that teaching really just wasn’t the career for him, and even though he had already spent quite a bit of money on his schooling, he wasn’t willing to keep going with it. I can’t say that I blame him for that, either. I think that teachers have to do way too much for too little money and compensation. I know that they spend a lot of time and energy on training and working and trying to help students and most of the time, they get very little in return for all of that effort. Anyway, once he decided that he didn’t want to be a teacher after all, we were all surprised at the course of study that he did decide on. He told all of us that he wanted to go to school to become a heating and cooling technician. This definitely came out of the blue for the rest of the family. I had never heard him talk about becoming an HVAC technician once in all the years that we have been alive. Our parents were shocked, but they weren’t really all that upset about his change of plans. My dad has always been very supportive of people who work in the trades and he said that he would be really happy to have someone in the family who works as a heating and cooling technician.
