My dad thinks he wants to move south

My dad thinks that he wants to move down to the southern part of the country next year but I don’t know if he should. I keep talking to him about it and the main reason that he keeps giving me for moving is the fact that he is sick and tired of having to do heating repairs and maintenance work on his old electric furnace. This furnace is really ancient. It was there the entire time that I was growing up, and I’m pretty sure that it was in the house before that, too. Seeing as how I am now almost 45 years old, that equals out to a very old furnace. I keep telling my dad that it’s really no wonder that the furnace is having issues. The real question is how has he managed to keep the same old electric furnace for this long without having to already replace it? So whenever he talks about picking up and moving all because of the fact that he’s mad about his old furnace system, it makes me question the whole idea. I mean, all of his family is here and his bowling league is here and his AMVETS post is here. I just don’t think that he would like it down there in the south. First of all, I think that he would hate the hot weather after the first summer that he has to live through it. Second of all, I think he will end up having issues with his air conditioning system and he will be in the same boat that he’s in now, except it will be with his cooling system instead of his heating system. I feel like he should just stick around here and give up and get a new furnace.
