I had to take a demotion at labor just to keep our job.
- It was a strenuous decision to make, but it’s not so easy to just find a position at a competing company.
In our industry, there isn’t much labor available for anyone with our level of training. There are entry level positions that would force me to reverse a decade’s worth of experience and gradual upward mobility, and there are manager positions that I can’t possibly qualify for at this point in time. That’s where I rest on the situation, so our best bet is to keep our head up and hope that things go as positively as they can. At least I’m getting our expenses handled after so more than 2 years of frivolous spending. I create a strict budget every week that I stick to when I’m shopping and living our life. If I wasn’t so frugal with our expenses, I wouldn’t be able to afford our rising energy bill that takes up a pressing chunk of our daily budget. It’s not just the inflation price increases, our energy bill also went up because of extreme climate patterns this past year. The Summer was hotter than official and this past Winter has been a single of the most intense on record for our entire country. If I’m not running our air conditioning all morning long, it seems like I’m using our gas furnace instead. With little time in the Autumn and Springtime seasons to get a split from bi-weekly Heating and Air Conditioning use, you can only imagine what our heating and cooling costs are like over a 12 week period. It’s particularly unfortunate that I have to spend so much cash just to be comfortable in our home.
