It seems like until recently, my family was always at war over the HVAC setting.
It was like nobody could ever agree on a compromise HVAC temperature.
The boys were forever turning down the thermostat because they were hot. But, my daughter, who is a tiny thing, would be shivering. I would see her grumping around in hoodies and sweatshirts in the middle of the summer. I thought maybe installing a smart thermostat would help the situation. It would precisely monitor the HVAC output, saving us money and giving us consistent temperatures. Plus, I could lock everyone else from fooling with the settings. But, my kids hacked my codes somehow so that didn’t work the way I had planned. Finally, I called the HVAC folks that we do business with. They sent out an HVAC technician to survey the scene. The guy was very thorough with his inspections and did a bunch of measurements. His verdict was that we were perfect candidates for zone control HVAC. He explained the with the installations of some valves and dampers, he could change the existing HVAC over to zone control. That meant there would be 6 separately controlled temperature zones throughout the house. There would be independent thermostats that could be used to customize the temperature in these separate spaces. We went with it and it turned out great. Now, I have a family that is both comfortable and not warring with each other over the HVAC. I have even seen my daughter wearing a t-shirt and shorts in the house. Will wonders ever cease?
