My Own Experiences With Asthma and HVAC Prepared Me For My Child

When I was growing up I had bad asthma attacks a lot.

Neither of my parents has asthma, so they did not know what to do. It was all a learning process for them. Some of my early years were pretty tough for them and me. But it was not in vain, because many years later I now find out that my child has asthma, just like me. I have been able to use the lessons that my parents learned the hard way. As soon as she started showing symptoms, I called an HVAC company and had them clean my air ducts. Duct cleaning was important for my asthma growing up. I change my air-conditioning filters all the time too. One of the main things that helps is having a HEPA filter. To any parents of children with asthma I cannot recommend these enough. On top of this I have another whole home air purification system. This may seem like overkill to some people, but my child has very serious asthma, just like I did. It is best in such cases to ensure as little contaminants as possible are in the air. I also keep a dehumidifier handy, just in case we need it. All of this may seem expensive, but it is less expensive than a trip to the hospital, and less scary. Growing up, my parents had to take me to the hospital for asthma attacks in the middle of the night a few times. They were very scary to me when I was a kid, and even as I got older!
