My sister has always been the golden child in our family.
I have two brothers and two sisters and my sister is the most successful of us all.
She is a lawyer from downtown and she lives in a high-rise condo on the 27th floor. She came home for Christmas this year and surprised my mom and dad with a new furnace. She was away for 5 years and my parents did not see her during that time at all. She didn’t come home for their anniversary and she didn’t come home when our youngest brother graduated from college. She didn’t even come home when Dad was in the hospital with pneumonia. Of course, as soon as my parents mentioned the heating bill, my sister rushed right to the house to bring them a new furnace. She called a local heating company to install the furnace and everything was set up the next day. She didn’t even stay with my Mom and Dad. Instead, she got a hotel by the interstate with heat and cable tv. There is no way that my brothers or sisters could afford to buy a new furnace for them, but we were trying to come up with a way to help. My sister swooped in to save the day and expected everyone to give her huge amounts of praise. I’m glad that she bought my Mom and Dad the heating equipment that they needed, but that doesn’t mean things are fine. She can buy expensive electronics, new heating equipment, and cars, but it doesn’t mean that she is better than the rest of us.
