I am absolutely the frugal type who enjoys to be sure the currency spent from the household budget is being spent wisely.
So, just forking over currency for anything that I don’t recognize to have much value in not something that makes me unquestionably blissful.
Both of us do enough of that around here already. I try to weigh the value of each item in our household budget. Recently our husband and I thought maybe the two of us could split out the cost of seasonal repair for the Heating plus A/C unit. While not a back splitting expense, it was still a sizeable amount that could be used elsewhere. It was a tempting plan but I didn’t believe all that great about it in our gut. There had never been any sort of major breakdown before. The Heating plus A/C equipment was updated when the two of us purchased the beach house multiple years ago. So, it was still relatively new. Since then, the two of us have had the heating & cooling equipment serviced semi annually. Personally, preventive repair is a good use of currency in most every situation. I believe that I like knowing that both our vehicles are taken care of unquestionably well by our mechanic. I believe this is why I felt so funny about reducing or altogether removing the Heating plus A/C repair. So, I did some quick checking online to see if I was considering something actually stupid. Turns out that I most particularly was. It didn’t take but minutes to see that the vast majority of Heating plus A/C repair calls for major repairs are a result of something that would have been noticed while in seasonal repair. Then there was the longevity issue that was also effected by not getting official repair on the Heating plus A/C. Both of us kept it in the budget.
