People are absolutely unbelievable to me.
For the past several months, I’ve been living as part of an elaborate lie.
Apparently, it all started when my neighbor’s HVAC system broke down. I had noticed that they were having issues with their indoor air temperature control equipment because there was an HVAC truck outside their house one day several months ago. Then, the HVAC work truck started appearing on a regular basis. I felt terrible for my neighbors because I know that they aren’t exactly rolling in the dough. I assumed that they were having a lot of financial issues in their household and I even found myself going out of my way to bring them casseroles and cookies whenever I had something to spare. Well, they must have thought that that was very strange because they weren’t in any kind of financial need whatsoever. In fact, the husband had absolutely no idea that they were having regular visits from a heating and cooling technician. It turns out, the equipment being serviced at their house several times a week had nothing to do with their indoor air quality control machinery, unless you’re talking about how hot the wife was feeling. Apparently, she and the HVAC technician were having an illicit affair and utilizing his rather mundane profession as a means to get away with the act. Every time I saw that HVAC work truck outside their house, the air quality control specialist was maintaining something inside… But it wasn’t an air conditioner or a furnace. When the husband found out, I saw the wife pack up her things and load them into a waiting heating and cooling company truck. I wonder how his boss feels about all this.
