New HVAC system in a new home

Finding a new home during a pregnancy is a difficult thing to manage, especially when you are working on top of everything.

Now, add a pandemic into the mix and try to accomplish closing on a house.

Even still, we are making it work as best as we can. My wifey does a lot of the online research and such, because she has more down time. The gynecologist put her on bed rest a few weeks ago, so it’s about all she can do to contribute; however she has a list of wants and needs that she uses to narrow down a search list. The top of her list is a new Heating and Air Conditioning system, and I do mean “brand new.” If the heating and cooling system is older than a few months, then she will not consider the house any further. She says she has done a lot of reading on Heating and Air Conditioning systems. According to her research, particles can be trapped into the ductwork of an HVAC system for years and years to come. The way she sees it, in purchasing a home with an outdated heating and cooling unit, you are then breathing in the same air as the people who lived there prior. Listen, I’m not saying she isn’t crazy, I’m just saying that Heating and Air Conditioning is pressing to her, and makes life difficult for me. Oh, did I mention the fireplace? In addition to the modern HVAC system, she also wants a wood burning fireplace with a brick chimney. I hope that we are able to find what she’s looking for, but I am becoming less and less hopeful that we will be able to pull off both a fireplace and a brand new heating and cooling system.
