Ever since I was a little kid I have been in love with animals.
All I ever wanted when I was growing up was to have some pets of my own, but sadly my parents wouldn’t let that happen.
The excuse they always had was that they were allergic to dogs and cats so they couldn’t risk it. Years later after I finished up with college and was able to get a place to call my own, the first thing I did was get three cats from the local shelter. It was a blast having them and I was over the moon excited to finally be a cat mom. Then some strange things started to happen. I was starting to feel sick, coughing and sneezing like crazy. At first I just chalked it up to the old air conditioning unit that was installed in my house. This a/c unit looked like it was an older model, and I assumed that the air purification system wasn’t doing its job. After I had hired an HVAC repairman to fix the problem I was having though, I found out that this wasn’t the problem at all. I was told that the a/c unit was operating fine, as well as the air purification system. It turned out that I was just allergic to cats just like my parents! All those years I thought that my parents were lying to me just to keep me from getting a pet, but it turns out it was the truth. I am still going to try to figure out a way to go on with life while living with three cats, because I would rather feel sick and have pets than feel healthy and have no pets at all.
