Everyone understands that heat rises, however we had extra issues with that this past summer time in our dwelling. Since the bedrooms in our beach dwelling are on the top floor, we have to deal with the heat rising through the summer. The people I was with and I ended up having a really overheated summer, with the hot & cold temperatures up in the high nineties for most of the summer. It was a taxing summer time to be outside, that’s for sure. The people I was with and I didn’t spend much time at the beach or at the pool this year simply because the temperature was too sizzling for us to be out there most of the time. I remember thinking that our A/C bills were far higher this year than normal, & that’s not something I prefer paying, that’s for sure. The other thing was that even though the A/C bills seemed to be way higher than normal, the bedrooms didn’t really seem to be cooling down especially well during the evening. Our central a/c would operate all evening long, & yet we would be covered in sweat & angry in the bedrooms upstairs. I finally decided to give up & called the Heating, Ventilation, & A/C corporation that we do business with regularly & they said that we really needed to install something called zone control heating & cooling in our dwelling. That way, we could turn off the A/C on the lower level inside of the evening however leave it turned on upstairs. I felt that seemed like a great move to me at the time, however it hasn’t really helped us much. I suppose we just need an old fashioned window A/C.
