It seems really bizarre that I can completely blank out on someone’s conversation if I’m not all that interested.
It’s sort of like listening just enough to follow along and then simply glazing over otherwise.
I don’t know why I do it. Yet, with nearly every other inanimate object I pay complete attention. Man, I simply don’t even want to know what sort of psychological red flag that is. I can hear and see the slightest changes in equipment but a long winded story seems to simply shut off my senses. However, being like this does have some advantages. I tend to notice the slightest variables in stuff like HVAC equipment, cars and pretty much anything with a motor. Actually, the heating and cooling thing saved me a bunch of money. I noticed something about the condenser unit while I was mowing the grass. Out of the corner of my eye I thought I noticed the HVAC condenser unit was shaking a bit. Now, it wasn’t an violent shake but more or a shimmy that I had never seen before. When I finished mowing, I walked over to have a long look. And, I was even more certain of what I thought I was seeing. Hopping online, I wanted to see if I could determine what this might mean. I was so glad that I did. Turns out, HVAC shaking is a sign that the HVAC unit is perhaps on the brink of some sort of failure. I immediately shut off the a/c and called the local HVAC dealer. The tech found a bad part which was causing major problems. I found in time and probably saved myself a huge HVAC service bill.
