My family and I have manufactured watches for half a century. My grandfather learned how to make watches, when he was in World War 1. He was stationed somewhere in Europe, and he took up watchmaking as a hobby. My grandfather made a pocket watch, when he was only 22 years old. My dad still keeps that watch in his pocket at all times. When my Dad decided to follow in my grand dad’s footsteps, they opened a small jewelry repair and watch making business. At the time, the building was brand new. Now that building has been standing there for 35 years and it’s totally falling apart. The electric bills are killing us, and we are paying a fortune just to heat and cool the commercial space. I talked to the heating and cooling company about our bills, and they suggested buying a programmable thermostat. At the time, I was unfamiliar with programmable thermostats and all of their features. The heating and cooling technician took some time to explain how the programmable thermostat works and how it can help our business save money. At night, we keep the indoor temperatures much higher than during the day. We have the thermostat programmed to adjust indoor temperatures from 9 p.m. until 7 AM. Since our watch store opens at 8, we have the temperature programmed to change an hour before that. By the time my dad and I arrive to work, the indoor temperature is cool and crisp again. I really hope the new thermostat help save some money, because I’m hoping to invest in a new machine next month.
