I work in a part of the economy that requires I be in lots of places.
- It’s tough to do that and still maintain some sanity and balance.
My situation works out perfectly for this life though. I love what I do for a living and I am not attached to a town or anything like that. That’s why I depend on short term rentals to provide me with the part of my life that doesn’t revolve around work. At first, I took a stab at corporate housing and it was okay. However, I found that our corporate housing options were not as varied as I needed them to be. It didn’t make much sense to live in corporate housing only to stay so many nights in hotels. Then I tried finding apartments near me when I would be somewhere. However, that was a bit of a hassle and I really didn’t put a lot into furniture and stuff like that. Finding short term rentals that provide fully furnished apartments ended up being the sweet spot. This allowed me the best of both worlds. Most projects that I get sent on last up to about 4 months. However, I still may have to visit the corporate office or other project sites during that 4 month period. With short term apartment rental, I can do this and still feel like I have a place of my own. That is something that is very important to me. Working all the time, even though I love it, is not the best formula for a complete life. A furnished apartment gives me the space to relax and delve into some of my outside interests.
