Show me where the air filter goes.

When I called the HVAC company last week, I had one simple question.

Would you come out and show me where the air filter goes? The receptionist must have thought I was kidding because she chuckled at my question.

I told her I was quite serious and I would like to have an HVAC technician come out and show me where to put the new air filter. She told me she could send someone out within an hour but it was going to cost me for a service call. I was fine with that, because I needed to find out. I am a visual person. If I want to learn something, I need to see it being done, or read about it. When someone tries to tell me what to do, or how to do it, it goes in one ear and out the other. My comprehension is less than nil. I had the new air conditioning unit installed two months earlier. I knew it was time to change the air filter, but I didn’t know how. I couldn’t find the paperwork that had the manual tucked inside. My husband wasn’t home to do the air filter changing, and it was up to me. I guess I could have waited a couple weeks until he was home, but I didn’t want my husband to think I wasn’t able to take care of the house on my own. It took the tech five minutes to walk me through the air filter changing, and I was okay. He said he wasn’t going to charge me, but I didn’t want him to get in trouble.
