My cousin definitely is an alarmist.
She said she had actually read somewhere where someone was taking a/c machines out of the windows of residences.
She kept telling me I needed to secure all of my window AC machines so nobody would get them. I lived in the middle of a gated community. I couldn’t figure out how anyone who didn’t live here, could get inside the gates and truly steal something like an a/c machine. Not only that, however most people in our community had central a/c machines. If you had a window AC unit, it was likely in the attic window. That would be truly difficult to get up to the attic and steal an AC machine without being seen. I laughed at Sandra when she started talking about the thefts. I told her how silly that was, and I dismissed her nervous behaviour. A week later, I was on my way back to my residence from work and I saw a Heating and Air Conditioning service van pulling out of our community. It had a few AC machines on the back of the truck. The people I was with and I would always see weird service vans inside the gate. I thought nothing about this to be honest, assuming a few people had current AC machines installed. When I got back to my residence, I parked in the garage and never thought to do an inspection of my actual residence. I was going into my residence and not entering some unknown hotel. I wish I had taken stock of my surroundings. It was something my husband was always saying to be aware of my surroundings. While I was at work, someone had taken my a/c machine, and it was absolutely in the service van that I had seen before.
