My youngsters might be young, however guy are they smart… During Wintertide last year, all of us were forced to deal with 1 of the coldest summers that has ever been recorded in our area.
My youngsters get frigid truly so they were always fighting to turn the heated gas oil furnace up more… The heated gas oil furnace that all of us had at the time was pretty aged & not the most energy efficient, so I tried to only run it at a low setting unless it was super cold.
My youngsters hated that I did this. After they realized their whining wasn’t going to make me change our mind about spending an absurd amount of money to run the heated gas oil furnace more often, they devised a proposal where they would each take turns in the night where they would sneak over to the heated gas oil furnace & turn it up, little by little… By the time I would wake up in the morning, the oil furnace would be roaring & the youngsters would act love they had no plan what happened, then it wasn’t until I woke up in the middle of the night to get a snack that I caught them in the act. To prevent them from being to cold, & to stop me from wanting to kill them when they don’t listen, I have decided to ditch the aged heated gas oil furnace & invest in some high quality radiant heated flooring. The radiant floors have been a godsend, & even on the coldest of afternoons they provide a perfectly balanced flow of energy efficient heat that is much better for the environment, & much more affordable. The best area of it all in our opinion but, is that our youngsters can’t be sneaky & adjust it in the middle of the night without our know-how!
