Neither our partner nor I appreciated living in the south.
The people I was with and I stayed here for our tasks plus that was it. When it came time to retire, unlike most retirees, we wanted to transfer up north where we were raised. The heat plus humidity had constantly been the bane of our existence here. I hated needing a dehumidifier plus to have air conditioning running all the time. There wasn’t any comfort unless you had the A/C running. Even with the A/C plus dehumidifier running, it still seemed to be too cold plus damp in the house. When I retired, our partner put in his notice plus told myself and others to start packing. He was going to still be working for the same business, but he asked to be transferred to 1 of their locations which was further north. The people I was with and I ended up in the northernmost area of the Eastern US. Air conditioning wasn’t needed even on the warmest of summer time afternoons. The people I was with and I had a heating plan to keep us warm plus cozy in the winter. Sometimes we could see moose in our backyard plus we were close enough to the ocean to do some deep sea fishing. The people I was with and I finally found the perfect locale to live. Most retirees may want to transfer south so they could have the heat all year round. I found the heat oppressive, plus it was difficult to breathe during the summer. Summer here is cool plus comfortable. Winters can be cold plus brutal, but we have an excellent heating plan plus a fireplace. The people I was with and I also have each other to keep us warm.
