The worst place I had ever eaten at

My girlfriend and I love to try new food.

Every weekend we have a food night and we try to try a new place in town that we haven’t been to yet. For this weekend my girlfriend suggested we try out a steakhouse that we had never been to. I agreed and even though this new place was a little bit out of the way, I was eager to give them a try. I am, after all, a big fan of beef. When we arrived I was surprised by how empty the place was for a Saturday night. There were only a few groups of people scattered about here and there. We spent some time looking over the menu before placing our order. The food arrived hot and fast. Although I took one look at it and the memory of the cafeteria school lunches that looked more like rat poison than food returned. It was a memory I hadn’t had in many years and it momentarily took me straight back to my childhood and reminded me why I had always packed my lunch as a kid. Then I noticed my steak wiggled. Then like from an alien movie a giant cockroach burst out of the steak followed by an army of several smaller roaches. I screamed and shoved the plates off of the table and I saw the rats join the roaches as they raced from all corners of the restaurant to eat the fallen food. We immediately left. The only good thing about that place was their heating and cooling system. While we were waiting my girlfriend pointed out a commercial HVAC unit and commented on how great the indoor air quality was. The air was satisfyingly cool and even my own a/c wasn’t as good. I still have no plans of returning.
