The zoo’s heating system was broken

The last time I took the kids to the zoo, the heating system was broken.

Before we even left home that morning, I told the kids that the temperature outside was probably way too cold for us to enjoy a day at the zoo.

But, as kids do, they begged and whined until I finally told them that I would take them. The closer we got to the zoo, the colder the temperature outside dropped and that’s when I remembered that the zoo is both north of us and near a giant lake. I just knew that we were going to be freezing as we walked around all day, but I comforted myself with the fact that the indoor exhibit buildings have really good heating systems inside of them. If nothing else, I figured that we would be okay if we went inside of the rainforest building. The heaters are always going full blast in there and usually it’s so hot in there that we can’t stand it. Well, once we got to the zoo and got parked, we went inside the gates and that’s when we found out that the heating system at the zoo was completely out of commission that day. We saw a dozen commercial HVAC technicians running around this way and that with all kinds of HVAC tools and equipment. Everyone was in a panic because none of the heating systems were working and they were afraid for the welfare of the animals that need to be kept at higher temperatures. I was surprised that they were even letting visitors into the zoo at that point.
