Lately I have noticed a lot of odors in my house, and at first I had no clue what was causing them.
I asked a few friends of mine, and they also didn’t know.
I talked to once of my friends and he said it could be that I have mold in the ducts of my heating and cooling system. It had never occured to me that my HVAC system might be the reason for the odor, so I figured I would check it out. I called an HVAC technician and had them come out to clean the ductwork. They told me that when they were cleaning out the ductwork they found a few issues with my AC unit. I can’t really remember all of what they said, but the basic idea was that I should get a ductless mini split AC unit. I had extra money so I let them do the AC unit installation. After the HVAC technician left I still noticed the smell so I gave them a call. They told me that since they had just taken out the old AC unit that I might still experience some odor and not to worry, they said I should turn of the AC and open the windows for a few hours. When I woke up the odor was still there, and I knew that the ductwork couldn’t have been the problem. I called the HVAC technician and at this time I was furious. They said they would come back out, but I would have to pay their basic HVAC repair fee. I wasn’t happy with this at all so I had another HVAC provider come out. They fixed the problem right away and even gave me a discount.
