My older brothers are both lawyers.
They always worked in the major office downtown, inside a building that is many stories tall. When my brothers and I were children, every one of us visited the office just to look at it. All of us always had fun during the visit and every one of us planned on becoming lawyers a single day as well. When I was in high school, I decided that I would follow a different path. I wanted to sing in the town choir. I am absolutely good. I went to college and studied up-to-date vocals, performance, and theater. I then sang in the town music group for 25 years before I decided to retire and teach. My younger brother did go to college to become a lawyer. The first few years were straight-forward, because he had a single goal in mind! Unfortunately, my brother started to waiver on the type of law that he wanted to practice. Oldest brother is a corporate lawyer. My younger brother did not see himself working with those large dealers every day. It sounded like a great way to make money, but my younger brother didn’t seem to think it was a rewarding or fulfilling day. My older brother was surprised when our little brother decided to seek criminal law as a major. We were even more surprised when he went to work in the state attorney’s office. All of those years of watching Law & Order made our brother want to put the bad guy behind bars. He has been working as a criminal lawyer for the past 15 years.
