Types of AC leaks

Air conditioners are commonplace in homes, commercial spaces, and stores.

  • This is because each of these properties houses valuable resources or individuals.

For instance, there is furniture, electronics, food, and humans who spend most of their waking time in their indoor spaces in a home. To guarantee the safety of individuals and resources within a home, you have to ensure the indoor environment is safe, comfortable, and habitable. Failure to do this risks the lives of people and the longevity of resources within a building. Most homeowners ensure their indoor space is livable by installing an air conditioner or a complete HVAC system. However, like all mechanical systems, air conditioners often develop issues. One of the common AC issues experienced by most homeowners is leaks. Since air conditioners use different types of fluids to meet their function, different types of leaks one can experience. Some of these leaks include water, freon, and refrigerant leaks. Each of these leaks has its negative consequences on your HVAC unit. Refrigerant leaks also occur in multiple locations in your air conditioner. Typically, refrigerant leaks occur in the condensing coil, evaporator coil, accumulator, and suction line dryer. Of these leaks, finding freon and refrigerant leaks can be quite challenging. Therefore, when you notice a leak in your air conditioning system, you need to call an HVAC technician to troubleshoot and fix your AC to restore it to its normal functioning. It is advisable not to attempt to fix these leaks on your own to avoid causing further damage to your AC system.
