When we first moved into our home, we loved the idea that we had a basement that was heated and air conditioned.
We loved having the area for the kids to play in. When they got older, we could send them to the basement send them to the basement, so we didn’t have to hear their loud music. They had birthday parties downstairs, even though their birthdays were in the winter. Having heating downstairs made it much easier. My boys used to camp out in the basement during the summer. They would have sleepovers since we had air conditioning and they didn’t need to worry about bugs or wild animals. Now, my children are grown and out of the house. Neither my husband nor I ever use the basement. We have an occasional Christmas party, but it would be nice to be able to turn off the heating and air conditioning until we are ready to use the basement. A couple weeks ago, I called the HVAC company to see what we could do about the heating and air conditioning. They told us they could install Zone Control, just like was in the rest of the house. We would be able to shut off the air vents and turn the thermostats down low. Now we don’t have to waste the energy for heating and air conditioning a space that isn’t used. It’s nice to know that if we need the heating or air conditioning, it is going to be there. I’m glad that I have the option to have the HVAC running or not to have the HVAC running.
