As our kids get bigger, we realized that we are going to need some extra room in our house.
It’s not something that we ever really planned on doing, but now I know that we are going to have to add some extra room whether we want to or not.
Not only are our kids getting older and bigger, but their friends are always here all the time too! We are in the middle of adding an additional living room by remodeling our garage and turning it into extra living space. The only problem we have found with this so far is the fact that the garage has never been fitted for ventilation ducts and a heating and cooling system. Since there are no air ducts in the garage, there’s no way to get heating and cooling into the garage. If we don’t fix it so that our existing HVAC system can be connected to the garage, then the garage will end up being super hot in the summer and super cold in the winter. We talked to one of our local HVAC companies to find out how much it would cost to run additional air ducts and he said that he thought we might be better off to just install something called a ductless mini split air conditioning system. With this type of HVAC unit, you don’t have to have any air ducts at all, but you can still control the temperature in your living area. That sounds like the best bet to me, so I think that’s what we are going to end up doing.
