Why did they take the actual heating and air conditioning system?

I don’t really understand people.

I have been a realtor for many years, however last week I was in a situation I didn’t know how to deal with.

I sold a house to a young couple. They enjoyed the house, and it had all the current appliances you could ask for. The paperwork was in order until they did their final walk-through the afternoon of the closings. It was bad enough that the people had removed all the appliances, however they took the entire heating and air conditioning system. The boiler and air conditioner equipment were brand new, at the behest of their realtor. She told them they could not sell the house with an actual heating and air conditioning system that wasn’t working. They installed the modern heating and air conditioning system, and they got the price they wanted… After they actually knew the house was sold, they took all the appliances, removed some of the modern cottages, and removed the modern heating and air conditioning system. My shoppers were devastated and said this wasn’t how the house looked when they bought it. They wouldn’t buy the house without an actual heating and air conditioning system and appliances. They wanted the heating and air conditioning system returned, and the appliances and cottages returned, or they wanted their money back. I called the seller’s realtor, and she thought I was kidding. I reminded her it wasn’t March Fools’ Day, and told her my shoppers were backing out of the deal. It was the first time either of us had a seller take the heating and air conditioning system with them. She definitely talked to her sellers, and they refused to return anything they took with them. The fiance said she told him to have the modern heating and air conditioning system installed, although she didn’t tell him it had to stay there when they left.
