A salute to a great HVAC unit

My family really thinks I’m weird. But really, that’s not exactly news. Sure, I may follow the beat of my own drummer but I’m consistent. So when we got the news that the HVAC unit was on its way out, I of course wanted to honor it. That was literally the first thing that came to mind. Not whether or not we could afford a new HVAC unit or what that process was all about. No, I was worried that the old HVAC unit wouldn’t be given its due. Ok, so maybe that’s weird that I assign human emotions to appliances. But I do the same thing with cars and other stuff that I own. Not sure why but I just feel as though being really grateful for something like more than 20 years of heating and cooling is important. So for me, I tend to show this gratitude more the way I would show it to a human being. Of course I know that the HVAC unit doesn’t know or care how much I appreciate the fact that it went more than 20 years. I’m not insane but rather have a few eccentricities let’s say. So the day that the HVAC professionals were to come install the new HVAC equipment, I went outside and sat by the old HVAC unit. I didn’t linger but just enjoyed a quiet cup of coffee with the heating and cooling equipment that has taken care of us for a couple of decades. In my heart, I know that this HVAC unit gave all it had to take care of my family and that deserved a bit of a salute from me.
