Air conditioning and living with less

When I was growing up the last thing I took for granted was Heating as well as Air Conditioning.

I grew up in a small home and yet when it came to air conditioner there were only two rooms that had it. The master living room where my parents slept had a window a/c. The only other locale in the home that had a window a/c was the entryway. Thus, on hot Summer afternoons, myself and others and my brother would hang out in the entryway until the worst of the heat would pass and the night would come to cool things down a bit, don’t get myself and others wrong the people I was with and I still played outside while I was in these afternoons. There is little that would deter us from having a lot of fun. However, there were some afternoons when the most the people I was with and I could do was sprawl out on the entryway floor as close to the a/c as possible and just bask in the coolness, but you suppose how a honestly hot and humid Summer day can take the energy right out of you? On some of the warmer Summer afternoons, the people I was with and I would leave our living room door wide open so that the air conditioner in the adjacent entryway could reach somewhat into our living room. These afternoons, now that I have my own home I do not have to live in such conditions. I have central air conditioner that reaches to every nook and cranny of my home. My spouse thought it was funny how spoiled I felt with such “modern” air conditioner. She was used to such things, however I found it to be a treasure.
