Brothers say they enjoy fireplace; wait for January

I honestly feel like the grass is always greener on the other side.

Most people have realized this throughout their lifetimes in one way or another.

I am no different, it turns out. I found this out for myself several years ago when I thought it was a good idea to move north. I was tired of living in the hot and humid Southern climate that necessitated using a central heating, cooling, and air quality control system for 10 months out of the year. No matter what you do in that climate it is absolutely necessary to have a high powered air conditioning unit to keep you safe and comfortable. So, I thought it was a good idea to move north where the outdoor air temperatures would be cooler. I didn’t realize how much cooler the climate would be, to be honest with you. Now I find myself having the opposite problem. I don’t rely on my air conditioning system, but I do need a central heating system and a traditional wood-burning fireplace just to stay alive in the winter. The last time my brothers came to visit they were extremely impressed by the large fireplace in my living room. They insisted that the heat felt warmer and more comfortable than a traditional furnace. They said that they actually enjoyed cutting wood and feeding the fire to keep the house warm. They were fawning so much over my fireplace but I couldn’t help but burst their bubble. It might seem like a great idea in the middle of October… But they should give this traditional heating system a try in the dead of January.
