Cat likes the indoor heat

I am in the process of adopting an outdoor stray cat. We started out just casually seeing each other when I got home from work. I upgraded to where I could pet him a little bit before he ran away. Next the cat started meowing at my door for food. After he got his own food bowls, flea collar and toys, he started really liking me. Now he is an indoor and outdoor cat. He mainly likes to be outside and hunt, but I can persuade him to spend some time inside. One thing I noticed is that in the winter he is way more eager to be inside with me. I looked it up and cats are pretty durable. They aren’t going to get heatstroke like rabbits. A cat is very similar to a human in how they can take the heat. As far as cold goes, they are wearing a fur coat. It is recommended to not let the cat stay outside when it is below freezing. Since I live in the south, it gets cold, but not too bad. A few times a year the weather does drop in the 30s. During those few times it is kind of exciting. My kitty is forced to stay inside with mama and enjoy the heating system. I make sure to have a sweet set up for him. I got him his own room with a cat bed and I placed it right under the heating vent. He does love sleeping in good climate controlled conditions. I have to be careful not to overheat him.
